Real Recognise Real is an exhibition I'm currently working towards at the Acquire Arts space in Battersea. I'm sharing the space with illustrator Rob Reed who will be utilizing the basement with his intricate pencil drawings. I will be exhibiting a series of refined objects that individually would be read as undistinguished objects, abstract forms referencing minimalist sculpture but instead of marble and bronze I am using plywood, OSB and card. In dialogue with one another certain associated characteristics become important, their position in the room or a chosen colour for example, these connections activate roles within these objects in what, in its entirety, becomes a construction site of sorts.

PV 18th September

Exhibition runs from 19th September - 1st October

Crabwolf

Crabwolf are an illustration collective (and a bunch of bloody nice guys!) who are hosting a live art event this friday on the Queen of Hoxton's roof terrace. I will be joining them, running a little workshop/performance making paper hi-vis jackets. This is the first time I've done something like this so will be interesting to see how it goes. I'm starting to realise the constraints that factors like transporting work and where the work is being shown can have on what I am producing.

Concrete

Making Space, 2009

Making Space (detail), 2009

With what became a breakdown of a functioning workshop, my exhibited work at Concrete in Bournemouth was an installation of objects which could be playfully arranged and shuffled to suggest how these objects would or will be interacted with and how they interact with each other.
