Text accompanying the work:
I'm interested in the idea of ignition in sculpture, how by placing two objects together a dialogue is formed, thus activating the work. In what is initially a set of almost indistinguishable forms, with moments of reference to minimalist sculpture, certain characteristics become important, a colour, a material, a position in the room, etc. With a reliance on each other and a running dialogue between themselves and the space which houses them, these forms take on the roles of recognised objects we know to function together. In this case a sort of construction site emerges, an array of objects more associated with the setting up of an exhibition, than anything else. In these refined states the work becomes more like an idea of the objects, presented in physical form. This process is a shedding of previous roles and responsibilities, presenting objects with functions more concerned with issues of an architectural nature.
